A WIZARD, A TRUE STAR

==========================================

I have been a MAJOR fan of Todd Rundgren since 1969 when I first heard (and bought) the ORIGINAL version of "Hello, It's Me" with his then Power Pop quartet called THE NAZZ.  Todd wrote and produced most of the material on "Nazz", (the groups 1st LP release) with only 2 songs NOT written 100% by him.  One of those songs, "If That's The Way You Feel" was written by Stewkey (keyboards & vocals) and Carson Van Osten (bass & backing vocals).   The other tune "Wildwood Blues" was a joint effort of TODD, STEWKEY, CARSON and the groups drummer THOM MOONEY (who was featured on a Jimmy Buffett CD.. most of which was recorded in Memphis).  Their 2nd album "Nazz Nazz" was issued on both black and RED vinyl.  (I have both verisons ;-)  Todd wrote ALL songs AND arranged Horns & Strings for the project which was recorded in England.   Shortly after "Nazz Nazz" was released Todd left the group.  (Rick Nielson of Cheep Trick fame was his replacement.)  A 3rd LP "Nazz 3" (mostly unused "out-takes" from the previous 2 LP's) was released after Todd's 1st "solo" effort entitled "Runt" which had a moderate "hit" called "We Got To Get You A Woman".  The 1st Runt LP also included members of THE BAND and the sons of SOUPY SALES.. Tony (bass) and Hunt (drums).  These brothers went on to form the rhythm section of David Bowie's "Tin Machine" project.  The "Runt" project had 2 releases, no "hits" from the 2nd LP.  After this Todd went completely SOLO, no longer hiding behind a "band" name (even IF he played most of the instruments on his Runt LP's).   "Something/Anything" was a double LP with a "hit" or two peppered throughout.  I Saw The Light was the 1st charting single but a re-vamped version (more upbeat) of "Hello, It's Me" which is still to date probably Todd's biggest seller.

Anyway, this is some of my collection.

I'm NOT an expert on Todd.. just a fan!!

Stewkey.. Looking Bored? Or Pouty? Definatley POUTY! Stew's version of a 10 gal. hat. Or else he's a train engineer with a VERY tall roof !!! Carson.. Lurkin' in the shadows.. Carson in a "classic" pose.
Sgt Pepper's Carson Nazz Club Band Alternate Picture from the "TODD" LP. My copy of the "TODD RUNDGREN RADIO SHOW" LP. Ever hear it? Sheet music for "Hello, It's Me". BTW.. it was NOT correct !! Wearin' "THAT SHIRT". Todd's HEAVY MAKE UP days. With make-up artist in tow. Check out the "feathers" for eyelids.
Todd looking BORED as Grand Funk recieved a GOLD LP for sales of Todd's production of "LOCOMOTION". A lot of "THAT SHIRT" was seen in his many promo's in the early to mid 70's. For a while it seemed to be his ONLY shirt ;-) Yet anoother of "THAT SHIRT"... "THAT SHIRT" again.. but check out ERIC CLAPTON's "painted" Gibson SG.. used during some of CREAM's appearances. "THAT SHIRT" and a LUCKY fan. "THAT SHIRT" is underneath Todd's jacket.
Best of Todd Rundgren. A collection of "would-be" hit records. Another short Todd article. Rare Todd EP "45".. A 4 song collection. A "Squinting" Todd. The BACK cover of the "Best of Todd Rundgren" songbook.
